Download Fails? Try These Troubleshooting Tips

Sometimes, even the simplest download can hit a wall. Whether you're trying to save a YouTube tutorial, a clip, or reel, errors can creep in for all sorts of reasons. Below are practical steps you can follow when a video won’t download — each step is written clearly so you can add screenshots where needed.

Check the Video URL Format

Before anything else, make sure the URL you’re using is valid. For example:

  1. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxxxx

2. Make Sure the Video Is Public

Private or restricted videos can’t be downloaded. Open the video in an incognito window. If it doesn’t load there, it’s probably private, and the tool won’t be able to access it either.

3. Switch Browsers

Your current browser might be blocking part of the script. Try opening the site in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Also, disable any browser extensions that block JavaScript, such as ad blockers or privacy plugins.

4. Use a Direct Video Link

Avoid copying links from homepages, reels tabs, or story previews. You need the exact video URL, not a profile or feed link.

5. Clear Browser Cache

Cached files sometimes conflict with live data. Clear your browser cache, reload the page, and then try again. This often resolves silent failures where nothing seems to happen after you click "Download".

6. Test a Lower Quality Format

Some videos aren’t available in all formats. If 1080p fails, try downloading in 720p or 480p. You can also try audio-only if the video doesn’t matter.

7. Use MP4 or MP3 for Best Compatibility

Not all formats work on every device. MP4 (for video) and MP3 (for audio) are universally supported. If you're choosing a less common format and facing issues, switch back to these.

8. Verify Internet Speed

Downloading HD or long videos requires a stable connection. Run a quick speed test if the download is stuck. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or use a faster mobile network if needed.

9. Try Mobile App Instead (iOS/Android)

Mobile browsers — especially on iOS — restrict some download functionalities. If the browser isn’t cooperating, use our free video downloader app for iOS or Android for a smoother, ad-free experience.

10. Reload the Website and Try After Ten Minutes

Temporary server delays or platform-side updates can interrupt downloads. Simply refresh the page and try again after 10 minutes. Most issues resolve themselves with a little time.
